SLM 316L in SLM 3D Printing
SLM 316L stainless steel combines corrosion resistance with the design freedom of selective laser melting. It is well suited to marine, medical, chemical, and food processing components, including complex shapes and internal channels.
- Corrosion resistant: 316L supports marine, medical, chemical, and food processing applications.
- Complex geometries: SLM produces lattices, internal channels, and consolidated assemblies.
- Finishing options: Choose polishing, passivation, shot peening, or CNC machining.
Selection note: Overhangs above 45° reduce support needs. Use teardrop or diamond-shaped channels for internal passages larger than 8 mm. Keep functional walls at least 0.5 mm thick and add fillets of R0.5 mm or larger.
