Stainless Steel in 3D Printing
Selective laser melting produces stainless steel components with complex lattices, internal channels, and consolidated assemblies. RapidDirect offers SLM 316L, 17-4PH, and 15-5PH for medical, marine, aerospace, chemical, food processing, and industrial tooling applications.
- Complex geometries: Build lattices, internal channels, and consolidated assemblies.
- Dense metal parts: SLM stainless steel parts reach density of at least 99.8%.
- Three alloy options: Choose 316L, 17-4PH, or 15-5PH for corrosion resistance, strength, and toughness.
- Post-processing: Add heat treatment, shot peening, polishing, passivation, or CNC machining.
Selection note: Overhangs above 45° reduce support needs. Use teardrop or diamond-shaped channels for internal passages larger than 8 mm. Keep functional walls at least 0.5 mm thick and add fillets of R0.5 mm or larger.
